High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance: Inconel 600 maintains its oxidation resistance up to 1093°C.

Dehydration Resistance: The alloy is resistant to dehydration in Cl₂ at temperatures up to 538°C.
Stress Corrosion Cracking Immunity: It is immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
Alkali Corrosion Resistance: The alloy exhibits good resistance to alkali corrosion.
Corrosion Resistance of Inconel 600 Alloy
Nickel Content: The high nickel content provides excellent resistance to corrosion in reducing environments and against chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Inconel 600 is suitable for use in MgCl₂ solutions.
Chromium Content: Chromium imparts certain corrosion resistance in weakly oxidizing environments. Consequently, Inconel 600 can serve as a substitute for commercial pure nickel in many applications.
Oxidizing Environments: The alloy's corrosion resistance diminishes in strongly oxidizing environments, such as hot concentrated nitric acid.
Neutral and Alkaline Salt Solutions: Inconel 600 does not corrode in neutral or alkaline salt solutions, making it suitable for harsh environments.
Vapor and Gaseous Environments: The alloy resists corrosion in mixtures of vapor, air, and carbon oxides, but can corrode in high-temperature gases containing sulfur.
Carbonization Resistance: Inconel 600 has excellent resistance to carbonization at high temperatures and good oxidation resistance. It is frequently used in the heat treatment industry.
Dehydration of Cl₂ and HCl: It offers good resistance to the dehydration of Cl₂ and HCl gases at medium to high temperatures.
Alkali Alloy Heat Resistance: The alloy demonstrates resistance to alkali heat stress corrosion.
