The disadvantage is that it is more expensive and not suitable for making magnetic tools. The advantages of carbon steel include high strength, low manufacturing cost, the ability to be magnetized, and a wide range of applications. Disadvantages are that they may become brittle at low temperatures and tend to lose their magnetism under magnetic induction.
