Stainless steel & Alloy steel & Carbon steel
Stainless steel refers to the kind of alloy steel which is stainless in the atmosphere and Cr content is greater than or equal to 13% .There are many different kinds of stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel, martensite stainless steel, etc. Different stainless steel has different corrosion resistance ability.
Alloy steel refers to the kind of steel which containing silicon and manganese as alloying elements and also contain other alloying elements such as chromium, nickel, molybdenum, vanadium, titanium, copper, tungsten, aluminum, cobalt, niobium, zirconium and other etc. According to the amount of alloy element in the steel, alloy steel can be divided into low alloy steel, medium alloy steel and high alloy steel. When the total alloy amount in steel is less than 3.5% we called it the low alloy steel, steel which alloy amount between 3.5 and 10% is called alloy steel, which more than 10% known as high alloy steel.
As to carbon steel whose mechanical properties mainly depend on the carbon content in steel, so, generally we don’t add a lot of alloy element in carbon steel. According to carbon content, carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel (0.25% or less), medium carbon steel (0.25 % - 0.6%) and high carbon steel (above 0. 6%).
