China's exports of stainless steel flats up by 6% in July
According to data released by Chinese customs, China’s exports of stainless steel flat products totaled 179,752 tonne in July, rising by 6.3% from a month ago.
In July, the country’s exports of stainless steel flats made to Taiwan totaled 65,236 tonne jumping by 25.6% from June.
Industry sources indicated that the exports made to Taiwan soared as the country was expected to initiate dumping duties on stainless cold rolled imports from China into Taiwan.
But according to statistics, Taiwan’s imports of stainless steel scraps totaled 15,949 tonne in July, lower than 22,000 tonne in June.
In July, the US was the largest stainless steel scrap exporter to Taiwan with 7,554 tonne with average prices of USD 1,674 per tonne the Netherlands was the second largest one with 1,996 tonne with prices of USD 1,622 per tonne and the UK was the third largest one with 1,542 tonne with prices of USD 1,633 per tonne.
In the first seven months of this year, Taiwan’s imports of stainless steel scraps amounted to 150,000 tonne.
